| The Collaborative Program has six laboratories outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment for protein characterization. Five laboratories are located in Botterell Hall: a Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry laboratory containing MicroMass MALDI-TOF and Q-TOF mass spectrometers; a Bioinformatics Center equipped with SGI and Sun computers; an Imaging Center containing a Leica multi-photon confocal microscope and digital fluorescence microscopes equipped for microinjection; a Protein Interaction Laboratory equipped with Biacore, analytical ultracentrifuge, micro-calorimeters, fluorescence lifetime spectrometer and rapid scanning CD and UV spectrophotometers; and a Protein Structure Determination Facility outfitted for X-ray crystallography and equipped with a 600 MHz NMR spectrometer. A sixth laboratory specializing in Cell and Protein Production is located in Dupuis Hall.
Researchers at Queens University, in other Canadian research institutes and industry are all welcome to take advantage of any pieces of equipment or services. A portion of time on each piece of equipment is allotted to hands-on training of graduate students enrolled in the CIHR Training Program. |
